Royal Blessing Marks Historic Milestone for Apunren Community.

Ijebu Ode, May 13, 2025 – A significant step toward justice and unity was taken today as His Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, bestowed his royal blessing on the Oba-elect of the Apunren community, Chief Jimson Owode Oyelaja. The ceremony, held under the auspices of traditional leadership, followed an in-depth investigation by the Dagburewe of Idowa and the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo. The leaders had met with representatives from both Apunren and Isonyin to address claims of independence, unjust intimidation, and victimization faced by the Apunren community.

After concluding their extensive inquiries, a detailed report was presented to the Alayeluwa, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who, convinced by the findings, extended his blessing to Chief Jimson Owode Oyelaja. The event, attended by selected community members, was a poignant moment of hope, symbolizing a resolution to long-standing issues. The image captured today shows the Oba-elect alongside dignitaries, dressed in traditional attire, standing united. 

This blessing sets the stage for the coronation of Chief Jimson Owode Oyelaja as the Oba of Apunren, scheduled for May 22, 2025, to be officiated by the Awujale himself. The community views this as a light at the end of the tunnel, a restoration of their rightful leadership after years of anticipation.

The upcoming coronation is expected to be a grand celebration, drawing attendees from across the region to honor this historic occasion.
